State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:27 p.m. Sept. 10 at the intersection of Route 903 and a turnpike ramp in Penn Forest Township.

Police said the crash occurred when a 2007 Honda Civic driven by Basilio Hernandez, 51, of Poughkeepsie, New York, pulled out in front of a southbound 2008 Pontiac operated by Joseph Lorkowski, 62, of Jim Thorpe.

Police said the front passenger’s side of the Pontiac struck the driver’s side of the Civic.

Police said Hernandez did not stop after the crash, continuing north on Route 903. They car was located north of the crash site in a heavily wooded area on West Clarke’s Lane.

Hernandez was not at the scene, police said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

In addition to both driver’s being uninjured, a passenger with Lorkowski, Ronald M. Chupp, 71, also of Jim Thorpe, was not hurt.

Police said Hernandez was cited for driving without a license.

• Lidia C. Eusebio-Fermin, 30, of Wilkes-Barre, had serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 10:16 a.m. Sept. 27 on Interstate 80 eastbound in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Eusebio-Fermin was driving a 2016 Honda Civic that left the roadway and then struck a tree.

Police said the woman was confined in the vehicle until police arrived and applied a department-issued tourniquet to her right leg until her care was taken over by personnel from emergency responders.

The vehicle, which had heavy front-end damage, was towed from the scene.

Police said that Eusebio-Fermin was cited after the crash.

• A 17-year-old boy from Monroe, New York, had minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 3 a.m. July 27 on Hiawatha Trail, Penn Forest Township.

Police said he did not require a transport from the scene by emergency personnel.

He was driving a 2018 Hyundai Elantra southbound when he lost control and the car traveled off the left side of the road and struck a ditch, police said.

The teen was cited after the crash, police said.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 7:40 p.m. Aug. 22 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Vernon L. Frable, 87, of Kunkletown, driving a 2014 Dodge Caravan, was making a left turn into a parking lot and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The Caravan was struck by a 2021 Jeep Gladiator driven by Jamie L. Robinson, 44, of Albrightsville, police said.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Frable was cited after the crash, according to police.

In addition to both drivers, a passenger with Frable, Berneda G. Frable, 85, also of Kunkletown, was unhurt.
