Letter to the editor: Oh That “W” Word
September 16th, Propublica published two separate reports under The Big Story. The in-depth investigation by Kavitha Surana on the pregnancy related deaths of mothers, Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller. Regardless of Gov. Kemp’s recent media spin, a Maternal Committee of 10 doctors deemed their deaths were preventable and blamed Georgia abortion ban.
There is blood on many hands.
SCOTUS has relegated women to chattel and decided THEY have the right to make health care decisions for them.
The PA Democratic House passed a bill to protect abortion seekers coming to our state to access reproductive health care. It’s dead on arrival to the Senate. The Republican party does not care about the personal risks females take to carry and bear children, or that it’s imperative they have control over their reproduction.
Women know they will be judged on everything they do in their life.
It’s well documented in psychology, men place women into two categories. The Madonna/Prostitute split.
Good Girl/Bad Girl split. It is deeply rooted in misogyny (consequence of male dominated society) and is very damaging to women. That’s why it’s so easy for men to call women the “W” word in order to feel superior. The correct word used in psychology is actually the “W” word, not prostitute.
Violence to the female body is very personal. Rape, incest and battering to the female body is interpreted very differently than how men view actions to their bodies. That is why most Republican legislators do not have the slightest understanding or sensitivity to a 10-year-old girl being raped, or any female for that matter.
Men “project” their own self centered understanding onto women. Females living in red states, have to deal with the intentional ignorance, cruelty and dismissing of their humanity, as men want power and control over them.
This control comes with benefits and privileges.
It’s a form of abuse.
These men love controlling women, more than they love women.
