Local Roundup: Results from Oct. 1

Northwestern posted wins in both field hockey and volleyball on Tuesday.

The Tigers’ cross country team also went 3-1 in a multiple-team meet.

Other area winners included the Jim Thorpe and Marian volleyball squads, and the Pleasant Valley field hockey team.

Cara Thomas and Olivia Costa both scored two goals to help Northwestern gain a 7-0 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.

The Tigers, still undefeated in league play, also received a goal and an assist from Ella Dangello.

Gabby Kutzler’s four goals helped Pleasant Valley run away with a 7-0 EPC victory over visiting East Stroudsburg South.

Anayah Accilien contributed two goals for the Bears, while Sarah Chechel added a goal and an assist.

Norah Silfies had 18 kills and seven blocks to help Northwestern gain a 3-1 Colonial League victory over Notre Dame.

Shannon Green put up 46 assists and 11 digs, while Elyse Browning contributed 11 kills and two blocks.

Marty Green was the top PV boys runner with a seventh-place finish in 18:51. Jake Smith also cracked the top-25. For the girls, Danielle Boland topped the Bears taking third place in 22:11. Keeley Lawrence placed 18th in 24:32.

Marian-Shenandoah

In Schuylkill League action, Shenandoah Valley ended a four-game losing skid with a 6-0 win over visiting Marian.

The Fillies received 23 saves from goalie Maddie Kattner.
