ON THIS DATE SEPTEMBER 26, 1962

The new college for men to be erected by the Diocese of Allentown will be named Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales, it was announced today by the Most Rev. Joseph McShea, Bishop of Allentown.

The new college is part of a $12 million expansion of educational facilities being undertaken by the diocese. Also included in the program is the construction of three new high schools, including Marian High School in Hometown, and additions to three others.

The new college will be built in Upper Saucon Township, just below the Saucon Valley Country Club, and will receive its first students in the fall of 1965.
