JIM THORPE SCHOOL BOARD
Jim Thorpe Area School District’s board of directors approved the following items last week:
• A nine-month certificate of deposit from Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank for $1,250,000 at 4.15%.
• the transfer from the general fund to the capital projects account for $21,600 for parking lot lighting at Penn Kidder ($7,300) and tennis court repairs at the high school ($14,300).
• the purchase of a nine-month certificate of deposit for $3 million at 4.30% from Pennsylvania School District Liquid Asset Fund.
• the revised 2024/25 school calendar with five two-hour delay days for teacher in-service time.
• the first reading of Policy #800.1 - electronic signatures/records.
• the updated director of security and transportation job description.
• an additional yearly stipend of $5,000 for the director of security and transportation.
• Devin Rogers to complete her student teaching at Penn Kidder Campus during the fall 2024 semester.
• the resignation of Michelle Jerman, part-time custodian at Penn Kidder.
• Heather Zakrewsky as adviser of “The Flame” literary magazine with a stipend of $1,018.60.
• Kate Albert as co-advisor for the Class of 2027 with a stipend of $763.95.
• Melinda Sando as high school long-term substitute nurse at a prorated salary of $50,930.
• Constance Garris and Darri Pfeffera paraprofessionals at a rate of $14 per hour.
• Lexi Bodale as long-term substitute elementary teacher at LB Morris with a prorated salary of $51,930.
• Julie Brong as district ESL teacher at a prorated salary of $51,930.
• Updated 2024-25 health and safety plan.
• Approximately 60 FBLA students and six advisers to attend the FBLA state leadership workshop at Kalahari Resorts from Nov. 2-4 at a cost of $2,408.
• Business manager and superintendent to attend the Collective Bargaining Symposium in Harrisburg on Oct. 1-2 at a cost of $572.84.
• Board president and superintendent to attend the PSBA State Leadership Conference from Oct. 6-8 at an estimated cost of $1,600.
