More than a thousand spectators lined the streets of Lansford yesterday afternoon for a parade and ceremonies that paid tribute to veterans from all wars.

While communities throughout the country solely honored the members of Operation Desert Storm, Lansford decided to recognize heroes from the past as well as the present.

After more than 70 units went through the line of march, Grand Marshal John J. Riebe, a 94-year-old veteran of World War I, was joined on the ceremony stage by Mayor Dr. John Polumbo, State Rep. Keith R. McCall, Council President Masha Krajcirik and AMVETS Post 83 Commander Joe Hajack.
