September 11, 1970 — Tamaqua’s Larry Lishman carries 17 times for 171 yards and two touchdowns to help the Blue Raiders rally for a 20-20 tie against favored Minersville. Lishman breaks free for an 85-yard scoring run in the opening quarter and reaches the end zone again in the final frame from nine yards out. His two-point conversion after his second TD deadlocks the score. Tamaqua, coached by Walt Ligenza, also receives a 6-yard scoring pass from Ron Ritsick to Denny Pastucha. Defensively, the Raiders get a key interception from Ed Hromyak and a fumble recovery by Glenn Behr. Bruce Gottstein also blocks a punt on special teams.
