FCI Schuylkill inmate indicted

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Anthony Gilbert-Brown, 29, a federal inmate at FCI Schuylkill near Minersville, was indicted this week by a federal grand jury on the charge of weapon possession.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the indictment charges Gilbert-Brown with possessing a prohibited object designed to be used as a weapon, commonly known as a “shank.”

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Special Investigative Services of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti is prosecuting the case.

The maximum penalty for the offense is up to five years’ imprisonment, a term of supervised after following imprisonment, and a fine.

A sentence followinga finding of guilt is imposed by the judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the federal sentencing guidelines.
