Overall resources of Carbon County’s six state-chartered banking institutions totaled $29,751,000 as of Dec. 31, 1961, according to a recently-completed analysis of state banking operations by the state Department of Banking.

Secretary Robert L. Meyers Jr. said the banks include The Bank of Lehighton, Citizens Bank and Trust Company, Palmerton, The Dime Bank of Lansford, Mauch Chunk Trust Company, Jim Thorpe, the Summit Hill Trust Company and Tri-County State Bank, Bowmanstown.

The $29.7 million figure represents an upswing of $2,345,000 over the 1960 total of $27,406,000.
