The 12th annual reunion of the Last of the Panther Valley Deep Coal Miners was held in the Lansford AMVETS Post.

Archibald MacDonald of Mantzville, retired superintendent of the Panther Valley Division of Bethlehem Mines, was the keynote speaker.

Prior to the dinner and program, the miners held a memorial service at the Miners Monument in the John F. Kennedy Memorial Park, Lansford, led Dr. Robert Valent of Lansford, club chaplain. The organization, whose president is Stanley Stanek of Summit Hill, is dedicated to the preserving the traditions of anthracite mining. The club was founded by Michael Sabron of Summit Hill.
