Lehighton is considering potential upgrades to its borough website.
A discussion ensued at last week’s borough council meeting after borough Manager Dane DeWire noted that he received a quote to re-create the borough’s website.
Lehighton’s website is between 6 to 8 years old. The borough gets a lot of complaints about the site.
According to the quote, the borough could have a new website within a month.
“He would work with us on some type of payment plan,” said DeWire, who added the price came in at $14,000.
DeWire noted that all meeting agendas and meeting minutes are required by law to be posted.
Councilman Ryan Saunders spoke about the borough’s current website.
“It’s not user-friendly,” he said. “I think that’s a great idea to put the minutes up.”
DeWire said he believes it’s a win-win to continue to pursue the matter.
Councilwoman Autumn Abelovsky said she wasn’t sure what the issue with the borough’s current website is.
“I like ours; I’m not sure what the problem is,” she said. “I like the fact that when you go to ours, it’s Lehighton.”
Council instructed DeWire to work out a payment plan and find out details for the project.
