ON THIS DATE AUGUST 15, 1983

Parishioners and officials of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Coaldale, held a Mass of Thanksgiving and dinner Saturday to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the church’s founding.

The main celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Bernard Sharpe, a son of the parish. Assisting were Msgr. Frederick Melley, Msgr. Joseph O’Donnell, Rev. James Yorke and Rev. John Foster, all sons of the parish, the Rev. James Carr, former pastor, and the Rev. Cornelius McDevitt, who has been the pastor of the church for the past 20 years.

Guests were the Rev. Paul Borick, pastor of St. Mary Russian Orthodox Church, and the Rev. Joseph Gasho, pastor of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, both of Coaldale.
