Free programs for Carbon cancer survivors

The Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley offers the following free education and support programs for cancer patients and their caregivers in August.

The Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley is part of an international nonprofit organization that provides support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones.

Through participation in professionally led support groups, educational workshops and mind/body classes, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation, and restore hope regardless of the stage of disease.

Game On

Survivors can meet at Jokers Are Wild, 125 N. First St., Lehighton at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 21 for a fun time to help reduce stress, increase cognitive function, and socialize in a fun way.

The group will play boards games and have lunch.

This program is offered free of charge to people affected by cancer.

Quiet Hills Lavender Farm

Tour thousands of spectacular French lavender plants that are in bloom with bright purple flowers during this gathering at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 at Quiet Hills Lavender Farm, 1995 Hemlock St., Palmerton.

Learn about the growing season, harvesting methods, and common uses for lavender from owner, Chris Anthony.

This program is offered free of charge to people affected by cancer.

Carbon County Cancer Support Group

In a safe space, connect with others with similar concerns at 3 p.m. on Aug. 28.

Discuss treatments, treatment responses, stress management, problem solving, and communicating with family and health care teams.

All cancer types are welcome. The event will be held at Perfect Balance Boutique, 170 South 3rd St., Lehighton.
