The Carbon County Friends of Animals held its annual fundraiser at Radical Wine Company in Lehighton over the weekend. The tasting event featured many of Radical Wine’s signature mixed drinks, slushies, wine, and beer.
The organization also held a basket auction.
“We have 60 items in our basket auction,” Kim Mulik said. “We also have food, music, and lots of fun.”
Radical Wine has hosted a fundraiser for CCFOA for several years. All proceeds from the basket auction, food sales, raffles, and $1 from every beverage purchased was donated to CCFOA.
“We could use some donations such as cat litter, cat food, and cleaning supplies, as well as monetary donations,” Mulik added.
CCFOA maintains a wish list on their website, CCFOA.info Some items they need include cleaning supplies, paper and bedding items, cat food, nail clippers, toys, treats, as well as items like mops, heating pads, Q-tips, and gloves.
“We have about 130 cats and kittens at the shelter,” said Michelle Kreitz, CCFOA manager. “We are full right now. The shelter is running smoothly at this time; but, we could always use more volunteers.”
Carbon County Friends of Animals will hold a Kitty Bingo on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Orioles Community Center, Lehighton. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., bingo starts at noon.
Anyone interested in donating or volunteering can visit the CCFOA building at 77 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe, call 570-325-9400, or visit CCFOA.info.
