3 businesses cited for liquor violations

The Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, Wilkes-Barre, has cited two Carbon County businesses and one in Schuylkill County for violations of state liquor laws:

• The Batter’s Box Sports Bar & Grille, Summit Hill, was cited on May 24. Police said the business failed to adhere to the conditions of an agreement entered into with the board placing additional restrictions upon the license.

• 2008 River Walck Saloon, Parryville, was cited for violations during the period of Nov. 20, 2023, through May 9, 2024. Police said the business possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling of lotteries, pool-selling and/or bookmaking on the premises.

• Frank Boslet, trading as Frank J. Boslet Jr., Tamaqua, was cited for violations that occurred between May 23 and June 20, 2024. Police said servants, agents or employees of the business failed to notify the board within 15 days of a change in manager of the business.

Cases will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charges brought, and can mandate training for the licensees in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being licensees.
