125 children participate in 29th Rotary summer camp

A total of 125 elementary school youngsters participated in the annual Jim Thorpe Rotary Summer Camp this week.

This is the 29th year the Jim Thorpe Rotary Club has provided the eight-week, four-day per week camp. Children in first through fifth grades were enrolled.

The camp is supported by the Constellation Community Champions Program, which is funded by Constellation Energy.

The camp featured all sorts of activities from science experiments to fishing and a scavenger hunt.

The closing activities were held Wednesday at the L. B. Morris Elementary School, where the campers learned about the rainbow fish and how their gills change colors, they created their own boats to support pennies, and they learned how to ice fish. Recreation events on the final day included kickball competition.
