Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:25 p.m. July 22 on the Mahoning Valley Exit ramp in Franklin Township.
Police said the driver of a vehicle that caused the crash fled the scene after striking a 2023 Kia Sportage operated by Lavon M. Robinson, 56, of Long Pond.
Police said the Sportage was hit in its rear fender when exiting at the ramp. It spun across the lanes of travel and struck a cement median.
• Charles E. Still, 94, of Delran, New Jersey, and Stephen J. Verhauz, 42, of Allentown, crashed at 4:35 p.m. July 22 at mile marker 85.8 in Penn Forest Township, police said. A third vehicle, driven by Brianna L. Kolb, 18, of Binghamton, New York, was involved after the initial collision, police said.
Police said Still was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, for a medical evaluation.
Police said Still was driving a 2008 Ford Fusion in the wrong direction while exiting the Hickory Run Service Plaza when it struck a 2019 Ford F150 driven northbound by Verhauz. Police said after the initial impact, the F150 scraped against the driver’s side of a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe operated by Kolb.
They said the Fusion sustained heavy damage, while the F150 had front-end damage and suspension damage. The Santa Fe had minor damage.
Still was cited, according to police.
• Alice B. Holenstein, 30, of Media, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 4:55 p.m. July 20 at mile marker 76.9 in Franklin Township.
Police said she was driving a 1997 Porsche northbound during a heavy rainstorm when it hydroplaned, traveled across the left lane and struck the concrete barrier. The car began to spin, traveled across both lane and onto the shoulder of the road, where it struck a barrier.
The car had to be towed from the scene, police said.
• A driver and his passenger escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 4:49 p.m. July 20 at mile marker 85.1 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said Sanford E. Roberts III, 33, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2020 Ford Mustang northbound on the wet highway. They said as he applied the brakes, the car spun and struck a concrete barrier. The car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
Police said Roberts was cited for careless driving.
• Joshua M. Roeber, 39, of Cumming, Georgia, was cited for careless driving after a one-vehicle crash at 3:24 p.m. July 20 at mile marker 77.8 in Franklin Township, police said. He was uninjured.
Police said he was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra when he lost control of it and the car struck a concrete barrier. It sustained disabling damages and had to be towed from the scene, police said.
• Gary D. Bulicki, 70, and Vincent M. Bulicki, 48, both of Quakertown, had minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 5:09 p.m. July 20 at mile marker 89.8 in Kidder Township.
Police said they were transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
They said Gary Bulicki was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu south when he lost control of it as it hydroplaned. The car veered off the right side of the road, hit an embankment and overturned before coming to rest in an upright position.
The car was towed from the scene, police said.
• Terry L. Johnson, 68, of Wilkes-Barre, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 1:15 a.m. July 20 at mile marker 66.3 in Washington Township.
A passenger, Terry L. Teresa, 68, also of Wilkes-Barre, was also injured, police said
Police said they were transported by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.
They said the crash occurred when Johnson, driving a 2021 Nissan Altima northbound, failed to see a disabled 2021 Toyota RAV4 that had been driven by Kieran E. Frankenfield, 26, of Lehighton. They said the Altima struck the RAV4 in the rear and came to rest in the left lane, with the couple trapped inside it. Police said they had to be freed from the vehicle.
Police said Frankenfield was uninjured.
Johnson was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.
Police said the RAV4 was disabled after having struck a deer in the road.
• William P. Spannuth, 46, of Glenmoore, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:14 a.m. July 14 at mile marker 90.2 in Kidder Township.
Police said he was driving a 2015 Nissan when he lost control of the car, which traveled off the right side of the road, went up a slight embankment, came back across both lanes and hit the cement median.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:05 p.m. July 3 at mile marker 71.6 in East Penn Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Isaac M. Blagogee, 27, of Stroudsburg, driving a 2018 Dodge Journey, struck the rear of a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by Shawn M. Pitts, 32, of Lehighton.
Police said the Journey sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene. The Jeep had minor damages.
Police said Blagogee was cited for following too closely.
• Adriana D. Facen, 24, of Rochester, New York, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:11 p.m. July 14 at mile marker 72 in East Penn Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. Two juveniles in the vehicle, an 8-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl, also from Rochester, were uninjured but were transported to the hospital by personnel from the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association.
Police said Facen was driving a 2023 Nissan Sentra northbound when it spun to the right and struck a metal guide rail.
• Luis Rafael Gonzalez, 38, of Philadelphia, was uninjured in a crash at 9:30 a.m. July 6 at mile marker 66 in Washington Township.
Police said he was driving a 2005 Toyota Sienna northbound when a tire went flat and he lost control of the minivan. It traveled into the left lane and hit a concrete barrier.
The Sienna was towed from the scene, police said.
• Police charged Brianne Stucker, 29, of Kingston, with speeding after she crashed her vehicle near mile marker 101 in Dennison Township on the Pennsylvania Turnpike at 4:10 p.m. July 24.
Police said she lost control when she was driving too fast for the road conditions. She left her lane of travel and struck the median traffic barrier, which caused disabling damage.
