State police at Bethlehem report on incidents

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police said they were called at 10:44 a.m. June 20 to Route 873 in Washington Township to investigate a theft that targeted a 39-year-old Zionsville man.

Police said in the commission of the crime, an employee of Lepetiuk Transportation stole about $6,197. The company is contracted by customers for vehicle delivery services, whereby upon delivery of vehicles, customers either pay via a money order or in cash.

Police said the cash payments were stolen by an employee upon the delivery of several vehicles.

• Police were called to a property on Franklin Street in Washington Township at 12:07 p.m. July 19 for a theft by deception/identity theft incident.

A 53-year-old woman from Slatington told police an unknown suspect attempted to write a check and withdraw money from her bank account using her Social Security identity.

• A receiving stolen property incident that occurred at 11:03 p.m. July 9 at the intersection of Best Station and Ventura roads in Washington Township is under investigation.

Police said they were summoned to a suspicious vehicle incident and found indicators of criminal activity at the scene. They said the vehicle was towed pending a search warrant.

• Police were summoned at 11:21 a.m. May 14 on Welshtown Road in Washington Township to investigate a theft by deception incident. A 58-year-old Slatington man reported to police that he was told he would get $8,000 in eBay gift cards if he gave a suspect $300 in cash.

• Police were called to a criminal mischief incident at 7:57 p.m. June 22 on Route 873 in Washington Township.

A 42-year-old man from Slatington reported damage to electrical charging devices totaling $80, police said.
