Carbon County Agricultural Agent Ray W. Reitz was honored during a retirement dinner held this week at the East Penn Fire Company Hall.

Reitz served the cooperative extension service staff for 56 years, having begun his career there during 1947 after graduating from Penn State University with a degree in agronomy. His studies were interrupted by a three-year stint in the U.S. Navy.

The dinner was planned by Ferne Sensinger, who serve as emcee for the program, Marvalene Costenbader, Grace Behler, Lee Wenner Boyde, Elwood Christman, Guy Snyder and Ernest Christman.

Speakers were Ruth Funk, assistant director of the cooperative, and Glen Ellenberger, Lehigh County ag agent.
