July 20, 1972 — Nesquehoning manages just two hits but pulls out a 4-3 walk-off victory over Coaldale in a Panther Valley Little League tournament contest. John Staivecki collects both hits for the winners, with his second coming in the bottom of the sixth inning with one out to bring home Joe Matalone — who had walked — with the deciding run. Gary Higgins allows just five hits and three runs to earn the pitching decision, while hard-luck loser Danny Weiksner strikes out 12 for Coaldale. Coaldale also receive a hit and two runs from Jody Price.
