Mrs. Joseph Kurtz, who served as chairman for the Spring Bike-a-Thon in Carbon County, has announced returns totaled $4756.26. The Carbon County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Citizens will receive 50 percent of the funds while the remainder will be allocated to the state organization for costs incident to establishing the Right to Education for the mentally retarded.
Receipts of the fundraising event included: Weatherly, $1,487.23; Palmerton, $1,375,65; Franklin Township, $798.58; Jim Thorpe, $496.30; Lansford, $280.50; Lehighton, $275.80; and Nesquehoning, $42.
The local funds will be contributed to the construction of a pavilion at Camp Appletree along the Lentz Trail.
