The Lehighton Band will present its second of three free concerts in the Lehighton Park amphitheater at 8 p.m. Thursday.

“To Disney and Beyond” will feature a large array of musical pieces, but several feature music from Disney movies.

The band will open with Jack Stamp’s arrangement of “The Star Spangled Banner.” The opening march will be Karl King’s “Wings of Army March,” and the overture for the concert is a modern style song by Tyler Grant entitled “Epic Venture.”

The band will feature its first soloist, Brandon Cressley, with an extended tenor sax solo in “Disney’s Go the Distance” from the movie Hercules.

Cressley is a Lehighton High School graduate, and a graduate of Kutztown University where he earned a degree in internet technology. He is currently employed by Andesa Servies Inc. in Allentown, and married to Eliza Cressley, who plays trumpet in the band.

The Pixar branch of Disney will be featured next with “Pixa Movie Magic,” which includes “You’ve Got a friend in Me” (‘Toy Story’), “The Spirit of Adventure” (‘Up’), “The Glory Days” (‘The Incredibles’), “The Big Race” (‘Cars’) and “Ratatouille Main Theme.” Following this selection is “The Rolling Stones on Tour,” which is performed courtesy of Lehighton Band trumpet player, Mike Reph.

Highlights from “Ragtime” will feature soloist, Laura Reichard playing ragtime piano in the selection Highlights from “Ragtime.”

Reichard is also a Lehighton High School graduate, and a graduate of Kutztown University, as well with a degree in music education. She is the Palmerton Junior High School music teacher, band director and chorus director. She is also the organist at both Zion UCC and First Presbyterian Church, both in Lehighton. She is married to Adam Reichard, who is a member of the band’s trombone section.

“Clarinet Hoedown” by John Moss is an upbeat whimsical piece of music that will feature the band’s entire clarinet section and will be followed by John Neeck’s “Saxes will Rock,” which features all of the band’s saxophone sections.

“Them Basses March” by G. H. Huffine will be the band’s second march for the evening. It will be followed by music from the movie “La La Land” arranged by Michael Brown. “Symphonic Highlights” from Frozen is up next on the program. This piece of music from the Disney Movie was donated in loving memory of sons, Dylan C. and Gavin L. Krum, by their parents, David and Lora Krum.

Selections from the Disney movie “Aladdin” is next on the program, arranged by John Moss. The final selection of the evening is the John Philip Sousa march “The Gladiator.”

The concert is free, but a free will offering will be accepted.

In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall, 197 N. 6th St., Lehighton.

The Lehighton Band is under the direction of Bradly R. Cressley.
