More than 5,000 persons attended yesterday’s annual Byzantine Greek Catholic Day celebration at Lakewood Park, with all of the proceeds from the day to be donated to the Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh.
The program was arranged by the Rev. Paul Barnyard of Nesquehoning and the Rev. Michael Dudick of Freeland.
Guest speakers were Atty. Marianne Shutack Lavelle of Weissport, Carbon County’s only female lawyer, and Atty. George Puhak of Lehighton.
Among the parishes from the local area participating were those from Lansford, Coaldale, Nesquehoning, Beaver Meadows and Brockton.
