State Police Frackville — crashes

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:

• A 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer struck a vehicle on Route 309 (Claremont Avenue) in Hometown, Rush Township, at 2:53 p.m. July 3. The driver was cited for “driving on divided highways.”

Police did not identify the drivers, but said no one was injured in the incident.

They said the Wagoneer was heading southbound when the driver attempted to pass a vehicle that was stopped in traffic. Police said the Wagoneer passed the vehicle on the left by entering a divided section clearly marked to impede vehicular traffic, before re-entering the right lane where the front left side of the Wagoneer was struck by a 2019 Jeep Cherokee as it attempted to make a right turn from Sunset Street.

Police said both vehicles sustained minor damages and were able to be driven from the scene.

• Stafanie L. Bamrick, 39, of Mahanoy City, sustained suspected serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 2:25 p.m. July 3 on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

Police said she was a passenger in a 2006 Nissan Sentra driven by Seamus Ridgeway, 28, of Scranton. He was injured, police said, but the severity of his injuries is unknown.

They said he was entering Interstate 81 northbound from the Mahanoy City on-ramp and was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. It traveled across both northbound lanes and entered the center median where it struck a large sign pole.

He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, police said.

• A 44-year-old Tamaqua woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a two-vehicle crash at 1:23 a.m. July 2 on Claremont Avenue (Route 309) in Hometown, Rush Township.

Police said she showed signs of impairment after the crash and was taken into custody and transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale, for a blood draw, and released.

Police said the vehicles involved were a 2010 Hyundai and a 1997 Lincoln Continental. They said victims of the crash were a 76-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man, both from Tamaqua.

• Jostin M. Caba, 24, of Mahanoy City, was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic after a two-vehicle crash at 1:07 a.m. June 30 on North Main Street, Mahanoy Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Honda Accord too fast for conditions when he attempted to merge onto the Brandonville Road. They said the car traveled through the intersection, exited the roadway and graveled into a parking lot where it struck a 2018 Dodge Caravan.

Police said the Accord sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene. The Caravan had damages to its driver’s side.
