Bechtel’s Pharmacy, located at the corner of Main and Center streets, Slatington, is observing its 25th anniversary during a weeklong celebration.

The business is operated by proprietors Joseph Bechtel and his son, Edward, both pharmacists.

Bechtel, a Lansford native, and his wife, Elizabeth, purchased the business from Charles Moyer in 1961 and initially retained the name Moyer’s Drug Store, before changing it to his family’s name a decade later.

Both father and son are graduates of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, in 1957 and 1981, respectively.

The Bechtels are joined in staffing the pharmacy by employees Alice Freed, Eleanor Nothstein and Karen Ritter.
