Monroe County crashes
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following accidents:
• Darryl Johnson, 62, of Allentown, was involved in a two-vehicle crash at 4 p.m. May 29 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra that was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. They said the Sentra came to rest on the right shoulder of the road and sustained minor damages. No one was hurt in the crash.
• Jairo Amado, 44, of Hazleton, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:18 a.m. April 28 on Interstate 80 in Jackson Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono, East Stroudsburg.
They said the crash occurred when he was driving a 2019 Toyota Highlander westbound in the left traffic lane when it entered the right lane and struck a 2018 Freightliner driven by Sharma S. Kumar, 59, of North Arlington, New Jersey. He was uninjured.
• Artur Mroczka, 42, of Stroudsburg, was cited for “obedience to traffic control devices” after a mishap at 3:44 p.m. May 22 at the intersection of Rimrock and Kroucher roads in Hamilton Township. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe west on Kroucher Road when it entered the intersection without yielding to an oncoming 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Lewis E. Kappes Jr., 60, of Stroudsburg, and struck the Pontiac.
• No one was hurt when a vehicle struck a deer on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township at 12:24 p.m. May 25.
Police said William Dunphy, 79, of Oradell, New Jersey, was driving the 2023 Subaru Forester when it struck the deer in the eastbound lane, causing disabling damages to the vehicle.
• Darryl Johnson, 62, of Allentown, was the victim of a hit-and-run incident that happened at 4 p.m. May 29 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.
Police said he was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra that was struck by an unknown vehicle as they were traveling side-by-side on Route 33.
The Sentra sustained minor damages and Johnson was uninjured, police said.
• Sean L. Samuel, 47, of Kunkletown, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 10:22 a.m. May 23 on Interstate 380 in Coolbaugh Township.
Police said he was driving a 2023 Buick Envision northbound when a deer entered his lane of travel and he was unable to avoid the collision.
The car was towed from the scene.
