State police at Bethlehem
State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:
• Corrine Sergent, 38, of Bethlehem, was arrested by police at 7:49 p.m. May 26 at 2919 Welshtown Road, Washington Township.
Police said they took her into custody as a fugitive of justice from Georgia.
• Police said they were called at 1:05 p.m. April 19 to the CVS store, Main Street, Schnecksville, for a shoplifting/retail theft incident.
They did not indicate whether or not an arrest was made but said hair care, shampoo, conditioned and other hair care products were stolen from the store.
• Police said a 25-year-old Lehighton man is the victim of a harassment by physical contact incident that they were called to at 11:56 a.m. May 24 on Welshtown Road, Washington Township.
They said the victim related he was pushed by his sister, Julia Malave, after an argument.
• Police said Daniel Small, 4671 Egypt Road, North Whitehall Township, shot himself in the right lower leg while trying to clear is pistol in an incident at 1:58 p.m. May 24. No other information on the incident was reported by police.
• Two Slatington residents, a woman aged 51 and a man aged 63, are the victims of a theft by deception/wire fraud incident that police were called to on May 5.
They said someone “scammed” money from the victims between 2:07-3:07 p.m. by using a fake rental property agreement, resulting in $60 being sent to the actor via CashApp after completing a rental application. An additional $6,000 was requested to occur during a meeting in Allentown to finalize the agreement, police said.
• Police were called to a case they labeled “endangering the welfare of a child” at 7:16 p.m. May 23 at 4430 Sybil Drive, North Whitehall Township.
They said they were summoned here to assist with a 4-year-old girl who was unconscious. She was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for further treatment.
• A 75-year-old Germansville woman is the victim is a theft incident police were called to at 2:42 p.m. May 30 on Airport Road in Bethlehem.
Police said she reported several unauthorized transactions totaling $57 cleared her Truist Bank account.
• Police are investigating the theft of six hanging baskets of flowers from a greenhouse parking lot at 3752 Route 309 on North Whitehall Township.
The theft was reported at 10:07 a.m. June 9. The baskets are worth $273, police said.
• Police said a 64-year-old man from Bath was “scammed” out of $60,000 in an incident reported at 6:28 p.m. June 5.
They said the resident of the 5000 block of Lehigh Lane, East Allen Township, registered in an investment group he found on the “What’sApp” application that offered members the capability to trade cryptocurrency options. They said the victim, believing the group was legitimate, invested $60,000 in Bitcoin assets through the platform.
Police said the platform offered a variety of investment plans, including one-on-one investing with a supposed financial advisor. Following this route, the victim invested the money through the supposed advisor, in which he agreed to pay a commission for profits earned. Police said when the profits were maximized the victim was notified he had not paid the commission owed and his account was locked with the finds no longer accessible to him.
• Police said it was reported to them at 2:06 p.m. May 5 a 67-year-old woman from Palmerton was the victim of a theft from a motor vehicle incident that ended up being “unfounded.”
They said it was reported someone entered a 2024 Kia Soul on Shankweiler’s Road, North Whitehall Township, and took a smartphone, a flip phone, a leather case and a passport card.
• Sylwia Zapolska, 43, of New Tripoli, was cited for a dog law violation after police were called to an incident at 2:42 p.m. May 14 at 559 Knoll Court, Heidelberg Township.
Police said the citation was issued after they were called to a report of several dogs running around the neighborhood.
