Andreas VFW

The Andreas VFW post will meet at 7 p.m. June 12 at West Penn Park.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on May 30 with 27 members in attendance.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Let Freedom Ring.”

Two members were added to the sick list.

Members said the Memorial Day dinner food provided by members was delicious.

A Chinese auction will be held on June 20, and the summer picnic will be held Aug. 8. The meeting closed and games were played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown. The service will honor Children’s Day and she will speak about how Jesus loves children. Special music will be provided.

Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. and the evening service is at 6:30 p.m.

The prayer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 12. For location, call 570-225-6007.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Graduates will be honored during the service. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

A brief congregational meeting will be held immediately following worship.

Summer Picnic

A “summer picnic” luncheon will be held beginning at 11:30 a.m. June 18 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 101 Graff St., Cressona.

Betty Blyer Beaver will share about going from despair to victory, and Cindy Cerullo will demonstrate how to make summer center pieces. Emily High will provide music.

The event is sponsored by the Pottsville Christian Women’s Club. There is a fee.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn Township will feature a Joyous Noise offering. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

The July/August newsletter deadline is Tuesday. The Prayer group will meet at 6 a.m.

Retirees will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
