Restoration in progress

A crew from Craft Pro Masonry Restoration Inc. of Philadelphia was busy this week working on the former St. Michael the Archangel Church in Lansford, restoring the masonry and stonework of the structure. Because of the size of the equipment, the portion of Abbott Street in front of the building was closed to traffic. The 112-year-old former Gothic-style church was purchased last year by Mauch Chunk Holdings LLC. The owners have plans to transform the building into a performing arts center and special events venue. AMY MILLER/TIMES NEWS
