Susan Gallagher, a naturalist at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center for the past nine years, was elevated to the position of chief naturalist last night by the board of directors of the Carbon County Conservation District.
She will fill the position vacated by the retirement of the former chief naturalist, Judy Wink.
Gallagher began her career at the center as an intern in 1986 and became a full-time employee there three years later.
She is a graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Hometown, and East Stroudsburg University with a degree in environmental studies.
She and her husband, Jack, reside in McAdoo.
