Bollinger, Miseriordia headed to D-3 WS

Palmerton graduate Brock Bollinger not only has enjoyed a stellar junior season at Misericordia University, but he and his team are headed back to the NCAA Division 3 World Series.

The Cougars defeated Christopher Newport 2-1 Saturday to sweep their Super Regional and clinch their second straight trip to the D-3 series.

The win was Misericordia’s 11th straight and moves its mark to 38-9. The team will meet Pomona-Pitzer in the opening round on Friday.

Bollinger had been a key member of the squad, having started 46 of the team’s 47 games. He is fourth on the team in hitting at .360 (59-for-164). He leads the team in doubles with 15, and has also hit four homers and driven in 45 runs. He has scored 46 runs and stolen 18 bases. His on-base percentage is .463, while his OPS is at 1.024.
