Minersville registered a true “walk-off” win over Panther Valley in the title game of the Rothermel Tournament on Saturday.

Marian defeated Shenandoah Valley in the consolation game.

After Panther Valley rallied to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning, Minersville pushed across a run in the bottom half to claim a 3-2 victory in the championship game of the Rothermel Tournament.

Trailing 2-0, Logan Fisher came through with a pinch-hit, two-run double to chase home both Connor Penberth and Brody Breiner.

The Miners, however, loaded the bases in the home seventh and a walk to Lorenzo Yourey brought in Easton Schultz with the winning run.

Breiner, Chase Weaver, Stephen Hood and Brennan Kunkel had PV’s other hits. Brady Jones pitched well in defeat, allowing just one earned run and four walks in six innings.

Yourney and Schultz each had a hit and an RBI for the Miners, who evened their record at 10-10.

The loss dropped the Panthers to 14-6.

Shenandoah Valley-Marian

Marian closed regular season play with a 5-3 victory over Shenandoah Valley in the consolation game of the Rothermel Tournament.

Brandon Klitsch had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI for the Colts, who broke a tie score with a run in the fifth and added an insurance tally in the sixth.

Mike Gelatko, who had a double, was the game’s winning pitcher. Gelatko tossed five-and-two-thirds innings and allowed five hits while striking out three. Brian Hinkle pitched a scoreless seventh to earn a save.

Rocco Griguoli added a hit and two runs, while Dylan Zullo and Lachlan Segedy both collected a hit and an RBI.

Marian is now 12-8.
