Two people died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:11 a.m. Friday on Route 183 in Wayne Township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said Nathan M. Reedy, 23, of Schuylkill Haven, and Italia M. Deering, 19, of Auburn, were pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office.

Linda E. Williams, 56, of Pottsville was transported by personnel from the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.

Police said the crash occurred when Reedy, driving a 2024 Toyota, was traveling at a high rate of speed during rainy conditions. They said he lost control of the car while attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve. The car entered the northbound lane and struck a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Williams, casing disabling damages to both vehicles.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Friedensburg and Summit Station fire departments, Schuylkill EMS, local fire police and a local towing service.
