Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting its West End Missions dinner at 4:30 p.m. this Thursday.

Special glasses

A reminder that anyone who has eclipse-viewing glasses, and would like to help “Astronomers Without Borders, who has partnered with “libraries, schools, museums, businesses and other organizations across the U.S and Canada to collect and recycle gently used eclipse-viewing glasses, can still do so.

Those glasses, new or used, can be mailed to: Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center, Haverford College c/o Prof. Karen Masters, 370 Lancaster Ave., Haverford, PA 19041.

Ross Museum

Ross Township Historical Society Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and every second Saturday of each month thereafter at the same time.

Please note the change in time. There is no charge for admission and all are welcome to view photographs, artifacts and items specific to historical Ross Township. The museum is located at 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.

Seniors event

The Pocono Family YMCA is hosting a free event at the Stroudsburg High School’s track next Wednesday.

Participants are invited to walk with other seniors around the track and then return to the YMCA for refreshments and door prizes.

Mother’s Day breakfast

The All-You-Can-Eat Pancake breakfast sponsored by EAA Chapter 839, Stroudsburg, will be held Mother’s Day, Sunday, serving from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, OJ, coffee and sweet breakfast treats. Located at 222 Hickory Lane, Stroudsburg (Sciota), the Chapter will feature free Young Eagle flights for kids ages 8 to 17, Para motorists, balloons, and will have the Keystone British Car Club and Lehigh Miata Owners Club showcase their vehicles. Monday Bingo

American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, hosts public bingo games beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mondays with card sales. Playing begins at 7 p.m.

Spaghetti fundraiser

Austin’s Blue Line will be the beneficiary of a spaghetti dinner being held from 4 to 7 p.m. in Effort UMC’s Wesley Hall, May 18.

It is a dine-in or takeout event. The cost of each meal helps to support the scholarships offered and suicide prevention. Sign-up for donations and desserts will be in the church Narthex.

Spring flea market

St. Peter’s United Methodist Church will hold its annual Spring Flea Market on May 18, with a rain-date of May 25. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church will offer lunch fare, beverages, and sweet treats. Vendors are welcome to rent a space. The area is located on visible Route 115 in Saylorsburg.

Planting time set

The Garden of Giving has set aside May 18 and 19 for its “Big Planting” event.

The Garden will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a full day of starting all the tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and other summer vegetables. Volunteers will be supplied with everything they need for a successful day: gloves, sunscreen water, and a picnic lunch for everyone will be served for lunch under the pavilion.

MCCD Art Show

The Kettle Creek Art Gallery show by Tricia Lowrey Lippert, Joni Oye Benintende, Peter Salmon and Marilyn Pastor Abdalla will be on display in the Gallery at Kettle Creek through May 31.

The show will include a variety of art mediums, including clay, oil painting and watercolors for a unique nature-themed show.

The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be open Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Farmers’ Market

The Monroe County Area on Aging has announced the Farmer Market Coupon program will take place again this year. The program helps low-income eligible seniors (aged 60+) to enjoy fresh seasonal veggies from local PA Farmers during the summer.

Sight & Sound

Tickets for a bus trip to see Daniel at Sight and Sound Theater, Lancaster, on June 18 are still available. The price will include round-trip transportation from St. Peter’s UMC in Saylorsburg to Lancaster and back.

The theater performance is included at 11 a.m. with lunch at 2:30 p.m. at Miller’s smorgasbord, and all gratuities.

Donations possible

Anyone who has leftover paper plates, coffee cups, napkins or plastic utensils left over from holiday dinners or party celebrations not being used, can donate them to the local Senior Center at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

The center is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.
