Walnutport Borough has disbursed donations to several nonprofit organizations.

A total of $39,000 in yearly budgeted donations were approved by borough council on Thursday.

Diamond Fire Company received the largest amount at $28,000, followed by Northern Valley Ambulance Association ($5,000), Slatington Public Library ($3,000), fire police ($2,000), and Walnutport Recreation Board ($1,000).

Council President Michael Gaston said that all the donations are within the borough’s budget, and added that the yearly donations have been static for years.

Gaston said that while the borough wishes it could give more, it can only give what it can afford.
