Phoenix Physical Therapy recently opened a new clinic inside the South Tamaqua Plaza at 565 West Penn Pike (Route 309).

“We help people get back to doing things they have to do - and doing things they want to do,” clinic director Nathan MacDonald said.

The staff does so by providing physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training and other services. The treatments are tailored to patients who come in with anything from pains to strains and sprains.

“Physical therapy helps people move better and get stronger in order for them to function in their everyday lives,” said MacDonald, a West Penn Township native.

Folks are invited to a grand opening and open house at the clinic starting at 5:30 p.m. on May 2. They’ll be able to tour the space, meet the team, enjoy light refreshments and learn how patients are helped.

Large windows span the front entrance area and add natural light. Inside, there are weights, treadmills, leg machines, traction tables, an electrical stimulation unit and other equipment.

“Our equipment here can address any post-surgical condition,” MacDonald said. Under a therapist’s care, patients can have their sprains, strains, headaches, back and knee pains eased.

Phoenix Physical Therapists can treat all ages and accepts all insurances. Patients can usually get an appointment within 24 to 48 hours of their call, MacDonald said.

MacDonald graduated from the Tamaqua Area High School in 2015. He has a doctorate in physical therapy and now lives in Tamaqua.

“I’m super excited to be in my hometown to help the people who helped raise me,” he said. “I couldn’t be more excited and thankful.”

The Tamaqua clinic is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.

Phoenix Physical Therapy also has offices in Frackville, Pottsville, Orwigsburg, Pine Grove, Gratz, Hazle Township and Lehighton.
