The Hazleton City Police Department is offering free prom dresses for anyone in need of one.

The department collected more than 250 gowns, some of which are brand-new, for students in local high schools.

Anyone interested in a gown should contact Patrolman Jessica Surkin at 570-459-4940 Ext. 216, or by email at jsurkin@hazletonpd.org, to make an appointment.

Those interested should also bring someone with them to help them try on the gowns, she said.

No additional donations are being accepted at this time.

Dresses are available to anyone who needs one in the Hazleton Area School District and all of the neighboring and regional school districts. Everyone is welcome due to the overwhelming success of the drive.
