The Towamensing Historical Commission is busy refurbishing the Greenzweig School.
The outside will be completed first, then the inside, according to Chairman Don Bonett.
Residents of the township have been very generous with their time and donations of building supplies. Bonett states that anyone wishing to volunteer to help with the renovation is welcome.
Tom Newman, of the Historical Commission, is working on finding out who owned property that is now under Beltzville Lake.
The dam was constructed in 1972 by the Army Corps of Engineers. Construction was authorized by Congress primarily for flood risk.
Newman plans to reach out to the tax collector, as to who owned those properties.
In 2007, the Towamensing Township Historical Commission, working with township residents, identified 120 historic township resources.
These included houses, barns, bridges and schools that are at least 100 years old.
The commission is hoping to update that list, because some properties have new ownership.
