Lansford’s only motion picture theatre, closed for the past several months, will reopen Friday evening under a new name and new ownership.
Peter Magazzu of Hazleton, who has emerged as the only theatre operator in the Panther Valley, announced this morning he will present Jerry Lewis in “Disorderly Orderly” and operate the former Palace Theatre on weekends, pending extensive renovations.
He has renamed the newest enterprise, which he purchased from John Humphries, the “Andrea Theatre,” in memory of his father.
Magazzu opened the Ritz Theatre in Coaldale in 1933. It burned to the ground in 1948 and he rebuilt it, opening the Angela Theatre, which was named after his mother, in 1949.
