Pleasant Valley hires emotional support teacher

The Pleasant Valley School Board approved hiring a new emotional support teacher for the middle school.

Lisa Bell will be replacing Michael McMullen, who resigned in early August 2023. She has a doctoral degree and will begin at Step 3 with a salary of $78,457.

“We are thrilled,” Superintendent James Konrad said about Bell joining the staff. “I’m excited that we continue to attract high caliber individuals to our school district.”

Bell will begin her new job with the PVMS about May 13, because she is currently working at another school district.

The school district also is saying goodbye to a few people.

Two people have decided to retire. Reading supervisor Lori Hagerman will officially be retired effective June 30. She has been with the school district for nearly 24 years. And administrative secretary Augie Kresge’s retirement was effective on March 1. Kresge also has been with the school district a number of years. In addition to her secretarial work, she was involved in athletics over the years as a winter event manager and announcer for track and field.

The school board also acknowledged the resignations of Erin Steiner, a school counselor at the high school; Bonita White, as the Honor Society adviser - Junior at PVMS; Dawn Hahn, the cheerleading head coach; and Darlene Arfken, a monitor at the high school.

Steiner was hired in July 2023, and Hahn had been the head coach of cheerleading since 2022.
