Blood drive set

Cornerstone Community Church is hosting a Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. today.

Sign-up to give blood at redcross.org/give blood.

The Western Pocono Library hosts the Miller Keystone Blood Drive every second and fourth Monday in the WPCL track area. Appointments must be made directly with Miller-Keystone at www.giveapint.org.

Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, will be meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Legion Post Home on Route 209. Guests are welcome.

Mission dinner

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting its monthly West End Missions dinner at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Knights meeting

The Knights of Columbus at Queen of Peace church, Brodheadsville, will meet Thursday at 7 p.m.

WELL Board

The Board of Directors for the West End Little League will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Park.

Next Thursday, at 7:30, is the WELL League meeting.

RSVP needed

A Sharing the Cross, for teens in grades 7 to 12, is being held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Good Friday. Youth are to arrive by 11 a.m. at McCawley Hall.

The retreat will be filled with prayer, activities, reflection and participation in the Lord’s Passion.

A meal will be served.

Ice cream event

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian is having its annual ice cream social at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Attendees are asked to bring a game and snacks to share, and remember to wear green.

Pickup pizza

For those who ordered pizza from McMichaels UMC, a reminder. The pickup date is by 11 a.m. this Saturday.

Eldred Twp. CCB

The Eldred Township Community Center Board will meet March 19 and Oct. 22, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building in Kunkletown.

Saturday dinner

There will be a St. Patrick’s Day dinner at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at 6 p.m. Saturday. It includes Irish soda bread, corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, dessert and coffee. It also includes bagpipes and raffles, music and a 50/50 raffle.

Members sought

The church volleyball league is now forming teams for the upcoming season and are seeking some additional players.

Monday meeting

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church’s Sisterhood will be meeting on March 16.

In April the group will meet at Camp Hill PA for the Penndel Women Captivated Spring Tour. This is a one-day conference. Transportation for 25 people is on a first-come first-serve basis.

WPWC’s installation

New officers will be installed at the March 18 meeting of the Western Pocono Women’s Club, which begins at 7 p.m. They are: Lisa Altemose, president; Linda Troia, 1st Vice President; Vicki Connor, 2nd Vice President; Linda Silverberg, Secretary, and Mary Minucci, Treasurer.

Christmas cards, fronts only-without glitter, to the meeting.

Meeting changed

Due to some scheduling conflicts, the Board of Supervisors in Eldred Township meeting scheduled for March 20 will be postponed until March 27.

The Eldred offices will be closed beginning March 20-24. Office will reopen on March 25, at 9 a.m.

The bid announcement for the Roofing Replacement Project will also be postponed until the 27th.

It has been announced that the Spring Clean-Up will be April 19 and 20.

Chestnuthill Historical

The next meeting of the Chestnuthill Historical group is set for 6 p.m. March 20, at the township Park Building on Route 715, Brodheadsville. The business meeting will be followed by a presentation from Doug Arnold, a lifelong resident of Chestnuthill Township and the former Superintendent of the Pleasant Valley School District. His remarks to the group will center on his memories of the places, people, businesses, and everyday life in the township’s relatively recent history.

Free meal

Next Wednesday, Zion United Lutheran will hold a free community dinner by way of a drive-through pick up from 5 to 6 p.m.

Easter egg hunts

• Cornerstone Community Church is hosting its third annual Easter Egg Hunt from 3 to 5 p.m. on March 23. It is a free event.

Hunters are accepted from ages toddler through 4th grade.

There will be prizes and raffles for grades 5 to 12 as well as ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy, snacks, photos, Story Walk and photos.

• McMichaels UMC is holding an Easter Egg Hunt for children at the church on Palm Sunday, March 24, after the worship service at 11 a.m. All children 18 and under are welcome.

• Pleasant Valley Presbyterian is holding an Easter Egg Hunt on March 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. (Rain date is March 24, from 2 to 4 p.m.). There will be games, a bouncy house, crafters and a visit by the Easter bunny. Craft vendors are needed so if anyone knows of someone who would be interested, please let the church know. The church will also be accepting donations for a future Yard Sale so if you anyone has any they should mark said items: Yard sale / Easter Egg Hunt. There are empty eggs at church that help could be used in filling them.

It is also available to vendors for a cost with a rental fee.

• Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran is having a Family and Youth Day with egg hunt at 11:20 a.m. Sunday.

• St. Matthew’s UCC is hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 30, at 1 p.m., inside the West End Food Pantry, 516 Kunkletown Road, Kunkletown. Egg hunts will occur by age group. There will be snacks, crafts, and games after the hunts. The Easter bunny will be visiting. The event is free and open to the community. Please bring your own basket.

• St. Peter’s UMC invites children ages 2 to 11 to participate in the church’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 11 a.m. on March 23 at the church grounds (924 Route 115, Saylorsburg). The rain date is March 30.

• Zion Lutheran is holding its 10th Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on March 24 at 1 p.m.

Fun games, food, an egg hunt and the Easter bunny will be on site for photos. All ages up to and including Grade 5 are invited.

Krispy Kreme sale

The Laymen’s Fellowship at St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, is accepting Krispy Kreme fundraiser orders until March 24.

Flavors include Chocolate iced glazed, Raspberry filled glazed, Glazed Kreme filled, and Glazed Lemon filler.

Cemetery meeting

Meeting for the Buena Vista Cemetery at 6 p.m. March 19 in the church social hall. Please anyone is welcome who has concerns.
