Panther Valley teacher nominated for LifeChanger of the year award

A Panther Valley Junior/Senior High School teacher is one of more than 600 teachers nationally, and two in the state, nominated for the LifeChanger of the Year Award.

Kim Laird, an English-language arts teacher, was nominated by former student and friend, Keegan Wolfgang. She was nominated and won one of the LifeChanger awards last year, as well.

“She has been trying to make a significant difference for many years at that school, and through her pupils, she has shown that she can achieve this goal of hers,” Wolfgang said. “If anyone should be gifted the honor of winning this competition, it should be the one and only Mrs. Laird.”

The award, sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, recognizes and rewards the best kindergarten through 12th grade educators who make a difference in the lives of students through excellence, positive influence and leadership.

In addition to the recognition for the impact on students’ lives, recipients receive a cash award, which is shared with their school district. Awards range from $3,000 to $10,000.

Winners are chosen by a selection committee comprised of former winners and education professional, and will be announced this year.

Among the criteria for selection includes making a positive impact on students, enhancing the school or district’s culture or pride, as well as leadership, professionalism, and commitment.

The selection committee will also take into consideration the supportive comments posted on the nominee’s profile on the National Life Group’s LifeChanger website, www.LifeChangeroftheYear.com.
