Kayla Semmel, Carbon County Prothonotary, released her report for January.

A total of 323 cases were started in January the office, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder. That is an increase of 64 cases from January 2023.

Reports, 1; Civil Action, 31; Court Appointments, 8; Court Rules, 2; Custody, 15; DJ Appeal, 2; Divorce, 12; Stip/Waiv Liens, 2; Tax Sale, 3; Mental Health, 4; Miscellaneous, 2; Judgments, 202; License Appeal, 2; Mandamus, 1; Mortgage Foreclosure, 9; Protection from Abuse, 24; Quiet Title, 3.

A total of 57 passport applications were processed in the month of January. In addition, 10 renewal applicants sought assistance from the office and 55 passport photos were taken.

Passports are by appointment and pictures can now be taken in the office.
