Bowmanstown Borough Council took the following action at Tuesday’s workshop:
• Granted permission to send letters to Palmerton, Lower Towamensing Township, and Towamensing Township to see if there’s any interest in scheduling a meeting to review the Palmerton Area Comprehensive Plan and update as needed.
• Announced that council is continuing to look into putting security cameras in the tunnel, but doing so would require electric and internet access. Council will inquire with Blue Ridge Communications on the cost of internet access in the tunnel.
• Announced that the borough received a request from East Penn Township for any pending and/or future projects regarding wastewater treatment for the purposes of budget planning and administration. Councilman Darren Thomas recommended sending them copies of the annual budget.
• Agreed to purchase a Stihl weed wacker from Whitehall Turf that includes a trimmer head, an edge trimmer head, a road broom, and a rototiller. The cost would be split, with the borough paying $581, and the sewer department also paying $581.
• Announced that the audit of the Pension Plan for the period Jan. 1, 2019 through Dec. 31, 2022 is completed. A copy of the audit is available at the borough office for public inspection.
• Agreed to hold electronic recycling events every other year, due to the volume of items recycled. They will not hold an event this year; but, will hold one in 2025 and in every odd year.
• Announced $22 was received from the Magisterial District, and $137 from the Tax Claim Bureau for January 2024.
