State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following cases:
• Jessi C. Bailey, 19, of Pottsville, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 6:56 p.m. Feb. 11 on the Burma Road in Blythe Township. No one was hurt in the crash.
Police said she was driving a 2011 Honda CRV northbound and lost control on a left curve in the road when the car traveled off the highway. Bailey swerved and went into the oncoming lane, left the road on the left side and struck a tree.
The car was towed from the scene.
Police said a 17-year-old woman from Pottsville, who was a passenger in the car, reported minor neck and knee pain and transported herself to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville, for an evaluation.
• Calvin O. Dorward Jr., 68, of Lehighton, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:45 a.m. Feb. 5 at the intersection of Route 309 (West Penn Pike) and Summer Valley Road in West Penn Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the Penn Mahoning Ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
The other driver, Joshua C. McClain, 33, of Danville, was uninjured.
Police said the crash happened when a 2011 Jeep Patriot operated by Dorward proceeded from a stopped position on Route 309 into the intersection without proper clearance and was stuck by a 2012 Subaru driven southbound on West Penn Pike by McClain. They said after the initial impact, the Jeep rolled one time, rotated 80 degrees and came to rest on its wheels. Both vehicles sustained disabling damages and were towed from the scene.
Police said Dorward was cited for the crash.
• Michael Savlik, 51, of Tam aqua, was charged with terroristic threats after police were called to an incident at 5:41 p.m. Feb. 4 on Ye Old Dam Road in Rush Township.
Police said the victim is a female from Tamaqua who reported Savlik made threats towards her.
