Jonah N. Ahner was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the Palmerton Rod & Gun Club in December.
Ahner joined scouting as a Tiger Cub with Pack 209 in 2012 and enjoyed many years of adventures including campouts, hiking, attending summer camps, and many other outings.
Since joining Troop 209, he has held numerous leadership positions including Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, and Quartermaster.
During his scouting career, Ahner had the pleasure of earning the Triple Crown National High Adventure Award by attending Sea Base, Florida, Northern Tier, Minnesota, and Philmont, New Mexico high adventure camps. He also earned the 50-miler award both at Northern Tier and Philmont.
He earned a total 42 merit badges, his favorites being shotgun, welding, and climbing.
His Eagle Scout project was the renovation and repair of the Towamensing Soccer Club’s storage shed/concession stand. The project included new soffit, a new top to the serving counter, removing and replacing an entrance door and reframing/sheathing a wall, some roof repair, sheathing replacement and a fresh coat of paint on the entire structure.
Ahner was joined by several Eagle Scout Brothers at his Court of Honor, many members and leaders from Troop 209, as well as family members and friends. He was presented citations from state Sen. David Argall, state Rep. Doyle Heffley, and Carbon County commissioners Wayne Nothstein and Chris Lukasevich.
Jonah is the son of Kyle Ahner of Towamensing Township and Erika Ahner of Palmerton.
