The Pleasant Valley School Board approved retaining D’Huy Engineering Inc. for another three years for its engineering services on the upcoming capital improvement projects.
D’Huy has been acting as a general contractor for the school district vetting architects, plans and assisting in the plan for the project’s development.
The company will be paid 1,800 per month plus an hourly rate and other fees. The contract listed numerous job positions and the hourly rate per position.
The contract also states that D’Huy will send the school district a statement every month for basic and additional services rendered. The monthly statements will be submitted as a percentage of the project cost, which is up to 10% in the pre-design phase, up to 35% in the design phase, and up to 100% in the construction phase.
At the Feb. 8 meeting, the school board also approved the payment of $306.630.07 to KCBA Architects for their work so far on the high school renovation project. D’Huy recommended KCBA to the school district, and the company was hired by in 2023 to be the architect.
In other business, the school board approved the following personnel items:
• Affiliation agreement - Pennsylvania Western University;
• Athletic volunteers - Michael DePalma, girls softball; and Christian Constantinou, boys basketball;
• Building volunteers - Anna Straub;
• Resignations - Jacqueline Brinker, English Department chairperson, PVHS, effective Jan. 25.
The school board also approved the sale on auction or disposal of 99 items that are no longer needed by the school district or are obsolete. These items include Singer sewing machines, wood working equipment, and weight room items. Items that were deemed to have no value for resale were to going to be thrown out. The items for sale are on the online auction site www.govdeals.com.
