Technical center gets state grant

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has awarded a $78,601 grant to Schuylkill Technology Center, state Rep. Tim Twardzik, R-Schuylkill, announced last week.

The grant will be used to buy new equipment to help train students in high-demand occupations through career and technical education programs.

Schuylkill Technology Center has two campuses, one in Marlin and one in Frackville.

Career and technical education offers students the opportunity to develop skills through a combination of classes and hands-on learning experiences, which allow them to apply academics to real-world problems. Thousands of students earn industry credentials or certifications for local jobs in high demand, so they graduate on a path for success.
