Harry Wert of Lehighton was installed as president of the Carbon County Fire Police at its first meeting of the year this week in the West End Fire Company hall, Palmerton. Mayor Guy Zern of that borough was the installing officer.

Others who took oaths of office include Jack Hoffman of Lehighton, vice president; Conrad Grob of Lehighton, secretary; Ronald Andreas of Palmerton, treasurer; and James Wagner of Lehighton, chaplain.

Guest speakers included Carbon County District Attorney Richard Webb and Lehighton Chief of Police Lionel Cote, who both praised the work of the fire police.
