Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 26
The Tamaqua boys, as well as the Panther Valley and Northern Lehigh girls, picked up wins on Friday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua
Tamaqua snapped a three-game losing streak with a decisive 79-57 Schuylkill League victory over Jim Thorpe.
The Blue Raiders, who used a 28-14 second quarter to grab a 20-point halftime lead, had four players score in double figures.
Connor Dillon led the way with 20 points, while Noah Mateyak and Cooper Ansbach both finished with 19. The winners, who improved to 9-10 overall and 4-7 in the league, also received 13 points from Luke Kane.
The Olympians (1-18; 0-11) were paced by Pierce Gothard, who tallied a game-high 22 points.
Tamaqua also won the JV game, 45-15.

Pottsville-Lehighton
Pottsville won its seventh straight game, pulling away from Lehighton for a 58-35 Schuylkill League victory.
The Tide, which led by 10 at halftime, put the game away by outscoring the Indians 24-3 in the third quarter.
Christian Alvarez scored all 10 of his points in the pivotal third frame, while Letrel Montone finished with a game-high 18 points.
Lehighton received a team-high 12 points from Cole Dietz. Joe Roth chipped in with eight.
Pottsville is now 13-5 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the league, while the Indians fell to 12-6 and 5-6.

Northern Lehigh-Catasauqua
Catasauqua used a strong second half to hand Northern Lehigh another narrow defeat.
The Rough Riders trailed by six at the break, but rallied over the final two quarters to gain a 55-50 Colonial League victory.
Frankie Pujols scored 14 of his team-high 17 points over the last two frames to lead the comeback.
The Bulldogs, who have dropped three recent games by six points or less, received a team-high 17 points from Connor Simms. Kellen Bauer added 14 as Nolehi slipped to 2-18 overall and 0-15 in the league.
The win lifted the Roughies to 6-11 and 6-8.

Mahanoy Area remained undefeated by cruising to a 71-32 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.
Chris Cuff scored all 10 of his points in the first half as the Bears jumped out to a 25-point halftime advantage.
Kadin Styka finished with a game-high 12 points for Mahanoy, now 16-0 overall and 9-0 in the league. Brady Alansky and Jace Yedsena both chipped in with 11 for the winners.
The Wreckers (2-14; 1-9) received eight points from Niko Saldukas and seven from Ian McKeegan.

Panther Valley-Salisbury
Panther Valley rolled to a 55-23 non-league victory over host Salisbury.
Kaidence Krapf scored 12 of her 15 points in the first quarter as the Panthers raced to a 22-2 lead.
Morgan Orsulak also tallied 15 points for the winners, while Maddison Maynard contributed 10.
The Falcons received a team-high 11 points from Kendra Morgan.
PV improved to 13-6. Salisbury dropped to 3-14.

Aubrey Pollard exploded for 25 points to lead Northern Lehigh to a 64-56 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.
Pollard scored nine points in the opening quarter as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-6 lead and were never headed.
Tegan Simms added 15 points and Katelyn Barthold chipped in 14 for the Bulldogs, who improved to 13-7 overall and 10-5 in league play.
For Catty (10-7, 8-6), Haley Jankins scored 25 points.

Williams Valley had three players score in double figures as the Vikings defeated Panther Valley, 54-33.
The Panthers (10-3) received a team-high 13 points from Chase McArdle.
Panther Valley-Jim Thorpe
Panther Valley used a strong second half to turn a four-point halftime deficit into a 37-31 victory over Jim Thorpe.
Chase McArdle scored a game-high 16 points for PV, who also received three free throws down the stretch from Corrigan Crampsie to secure the win.
The Olympians were paced by Spencer Gothard’s 10 points.
7TH GRADE
Panther Valley-Williams Valley
Panther Valley earned a 40-24 victory over Williams Valley.
Carson Jones led the Panthers with 10 points, while Corrigan Crampsie added nine.
Jim Thorpe-Panther Valley
Bobby Levins had 12 points to lead Jim Thorpe to a 34-27 victory over Panther Valley.
The Olympians also received 11 points from Bryce McElmoyle, while PV’s Corrigan Crampsie led all scorers with 13 points.
